Winterwanderweg around Mürren

This walk starts at the small combined funicular/ railway station at Grütschalp reached from Lauterbrunnen via the railway from Interlaken.

The track to Mürren is broad and easy to walk along and takes about two hours.

Looking across the valley to the resort of Wengen, which can only be reached by train from Lauterbrunnen.

Onwards through the forest.

A gradual descent.

Looking back down the valley toeards Grütschalp and the mountains beyond Interlaken.

There's a steady drop...

....across the mountainside...

....through forests...

... with the trains passing every few minutes.

Halfway the path reaches Winteregg with its winter sports facilities and restaurant.

Then there is a gentle fall towards the....

....railway line...

...and the outskirts of Mürren

Beyond Mürren the path continues up hill towards Gimmelwald but we went no further.
