The Goms in summer
Oberwald to Münster
In summer 2006 we had problems with the weather during our stay at Andermatt, with very cold conditions for August and snow on the mountains so we decided to visit the Goms to compare the valley in summer with when we visited it in the winter to cross-country ski. Perhaps it was the miserable conditions but the valley certainly had less appeal than in the beautiful winter snow conditions we often experienced.

Obergesteln and its station.

Once clear of the village the valley track crosses meadows...

......before descending this gentle slope. In winter the cross country ski tracks come this way and the gentle slope turns into something a lot steeper!!

The track continues towards Geschinen, with the village seen across the valley.

The track drops down towards the river with our walk ending cross the bridge at the station in Münster. With a break for coffee and lunch the walk took us about three and a half hours.
